XDMicro (Zhongshan) Begins First Phase Construction of New LCOS Microdisplay Facility

On September 5th, construction officially began on the first phase of XDMicro (Zhongshan) Optoelectronic Semiconductor Co., Ltd.'s headquarters facility.

On September 5th, construction officially began on the first phase of XDMicro (Zhongshan) Optoelectronic Semiconductor Co., Ltd.'s headquarters facility. The initial 50-acre site will host a 66,700-square-meter production base for silicon-based LCOS chip filling, sealing, testing, and optical-mechanical module R&D. Upon completion in 2024, the facility is expected to reach an annual production capacity of over 3 million silicon-based LCOS microdisplays. This milestone marks the arrival of one of the world's leading LCOS microdisplay enterprises in the Torch Development Zone (Minzhong), reinforcing Zhongshan’s optoelectronic industry chain, supporting industrial upgrades, and enhancing regional competitiveness.

XDMicro (Zhongshan) is a global leader in LCOS microdisplay solutions. Specializing in optoelectronic semiconductor chips, the company develops high-definition, full high-definition, and ultra-high-definition LCOS microdisplays, image drivers, and optical engines. These solutions are widely applied in ultra-portable devices, high-brightness projection, head-up displays, near-eye Metaverse displays, 3D printing, and other sectors.

 

The project began in 2021 at a transition facility in Sanjiao Town, featuring fully equipped clean production workshops at Class 100, 1,000, and 10,000 standards. By July 2022, the LCOS microdisplay module production line was installed, debugged, and began small-scale mass production, with output steadily increasing. The LCOS optical unit assembly line started construction and debugging in August 2022 and is set to commence mass production soon. Once complete, the facility will serve as XDMicro’s mass production hub and a center for new technology development, testing, and innovation, adhering to leading domestic and international standards.
